I'm currently in my early 20s and since getting a job as a software engineer, I started to save up more and more. For all the money not to go to waste and just sit in the bank account, I would like to start investing, and slowly add to it every month. What options do I have? I'm based in Europe if that matters. I also perfectly understand that safe means lower return and I'm perfectly fine with that, since I am going into this for a long term. Also, any useful resources regarding investment would be helpful (YouTube channels, books, etc.). Thank you!

There are probably a bunch of songs floating around in old playlists that you will never listen to again so the Spotify Playlist Recycling Plant is an attempt to resurrect these forgotten gems! At the heart of this tool is a simple custom algorithm that uses Spotify's 5000+ unique genres to find similar artists. Forget about billion dollar ideas, I am not even interested in working on million dollar ideas. There are multiple ideas or projects which are left because they don't have potential to scale. Forget about billion dollar ideas, I am not even interested in working on million dollar ideas. There are multiple ideas or projects which are left because they don't have potential to scale. They are very specific to a niche set of customers or teams. Many people wanted to work on the solution but dropped off as they had bigger fishes to fry or knew the idea wouldn't scale. Been lurking the GitHub issues, Twitter and blog but haven't really gained a full perspective. I'm in the market for a new laptop, currently using a Carbon X1 which I'm generally very happy with. I'm only interested in laptops that I'd run Linux on, but been trying some of the late Apple MacBooks and like the hardware, just the software seems to get in the way sometimes. So came across Asahi Linux project, which seems to be usable for daily work, minus some missing things. But does anyone use Asahi Linux daily here and can talk about their experience?

I think AWS and its signature system is making things more complicated than it should be, like this is a normal signing in process to API: 1. you request client credentials, which is normal. 2. construct request URL, normal. 3. add headers, eh, normal. 4. signature... fuck. First you need to convert the URL you have from step 2, mash it with headers from step 3, add header keys to signed headers, then sum256 hash the payload and hex encode it. Then you create a sign, add algorithm, request date time that is formatted with ISO8601 but all special characters stripped apart, add credential scopes, hash the canonical request you created at the first step. Then, you calculate this abomination: HMAC(HMAC(HMAC(HMAC("AWS4" + kSecret,"20150830"),"us-east-1"),"iam"),"aws4_request") after that you calculate this: signature = HexEncode(HMAC(derived signing key, string to sign)) after that you create an authorization header and add signature to it: Authorization: AWS4-HMAC-SHA256 Credential=AKIAIHV6HIXXXXXXX/20201022/us-east-1/execute-api/aws4_request, SignedHeaders=host;user-agent;x-amz-access-token;x-amz-date, Signature=5d672d79c15b13162d9279b0855cfba6789a8edb4c82c400e06b5924aEXAMPLE ...I mean what the fuck? Like the reluctance for the folks working on DALL-E or Stable Diffusion to release their models or technology, or the whole restrictions on what it can be used for on their online services? It makes me wonder when tech folks suddenly decided to become the morality police, and refuse to just release products in case the 'wrong' people make use of them for the 'wrong' purposes. Like, would we have even gotten the internet or computers or image editing programs or video hosting or what not with this mindset? So is there anyone working in this field who isn't worried about this? Who is willing to just work on a product and release it for the public, restrictions be damned? Like the reluctance for the folks working on DALL-E or Stable Diffusion to release their models or technology, or the whole restrictions on what it can be used for on their online services? It makes me wonder when tech folks suddenly decided to become the morality police, and refuse to just release products in case the 'wrong' people make use of them for the 'wrong' purposes. Like, would we have even gotten the internet or computers or image editing programs or video hosting or what not with this mindset? So is there anyone working in this field who isn't worried about this? Who is willing to just work on a product and release it for the public, restrictions be damned? Recently I was researching about DHTs and developed a DHT Sniffer in Go which connects to some known DHT Routers and sniffs all the annoucements. I've quickly added ZincSearch and it is now basically a search engine which can search for hashes, name or files contained in the torrents. It is able to index around 5-10k annoucements per second, so the index grows quite fast. Now, I am thinking about releasing it as open-source for others to study, but not sure if I should, because it might be used for "evil".

I was diagnosed with MS 15 years ago, and was doing pretty well for a long time, but with the pandemic experienced an tremendous amount of stress that has left me with my first major flare-up since diagnosis and, more importantly, developing over the past 3 years, a feeling in my brain that feels like having been lobotomized, and symptoms like "mild" dementia. Difficulty multitasking, make silly mistakes, mentally tired easily, emotional issues, etc. The MS was so far outside my concerns for all these years that I didn't know about the cognitive effects of MS (though I retrospect I realize I had some milder form of these symptoms all along), but I know understand MS causes brain atrophy and damage irrespective of flare-ups and lesions. I've tried many things to make it better over this past year especially, but it's getting worse. It's quite evidently different from depression, it feels like I've lost part of my brain, which seems to be what's happening with MS. I'm posting this in hopes I can get in touch with others with MS that are programmers and are doing well, and have found ways to make this better, or have gone through periods where they felt like this and it improved. I can't imagine living like this with worsening, I don't have any support from family and any savings (lost an enormous amount of life-changing money few years ago), my programming abilities have waned, and if I can't support myself in the future I'm going to end up homeless.
